چکیده

In a previous paper, an account had been given to the various aspects for the control of PWM-type switching dc-dc converters, and an LQR-based digital combined observer controller had been proposed. This paper reports the progress on further research in this topic. It is found that the design of the state estimator (observer) according to the previous paper will lead to a steady-state error in the output voltage in comparison with the reference value and there are difficulties in designing state estimators for converters with uncertain parameters. This paper presents an improved design so that the drawbacks mentioned above can be overcome. By applying the theory of statevariable feedback, a general approach for controlling PWM-type switching dc-dc converters with or without “unstable” zeros, and capable of achieving good regulation and rejection to modest disturbances, will be presented. An application example based on a published Cuk converter will also be given.

The Control of Switching dc-dc Converters -A General LQR Problem

Absstract-The control of switching dc-dc converters is reviewed. Regarding it as a general linear quadratic regulator (LQR) problem, an innovative optimal and robust digital controller is proposed. The control strategy adopted can achieve good regulation, rejection of modest disturbances, and more significantly, the ability to cater to switching converters with RHP zeroes. This controller desig...

An Intelligent Algorithm based Controller for Multiple Output DC-DC Converters with Voltage Mode Weighting Factor

Multiple output DC-DC converters are widely used in many applications such as aerospace, industrial and medical equipments. The purpose of this paper is to present an intelligent control system for the multiple output DC-DC converters. In order to perform this purpose, a double ended forward DC-DC converter with three output voltages (+5 V/ 50W, +15 V/ 45W and -15 V/ 15W) is considered and anal...

A Repetitive Control- based Approach for Power Sharing among Boost Converters in DC Microgrids

In this paper a repetitive control (RC) approach to improve current sharing between parallel-connected boost converters in DC microgrids is presented. The impact of changes in line impedance on current sharing is investigated. A repetitive controller is designed and connected in series with current controller of the boost converters to control the switching signals such that by regulating of th...

A High Efficiency Low-Voltage Soft Switching DC–DC Converter for Portable Applications

This paper presents a novel control method to improve the efficiency of low-voltage DC-DC converters at light loads. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) converters have poor efficiencies at light loads, while pulse frequency modulation (PFM) control is more efficient for the same cases. Switching losses constitute a major portion of the total power loss at light loads. To decrease the switching losses...

Design and Implementation of a Constant Frequency Sliding Mode Controller for a Luo Converter

In this study, a robust controller for voltage regulation of the POESLL converter worked in continuous conduction mode is presented. POESLL converter is a DC/DC converter with a high voltage gain. DC/DC converters are used in telecommunication systems, power sources and industrial applications. Owing to the switching operation, the structure of the POESLL converter is highly non-linear. In addi...
